Hisamitsu Hydra Box (Review)

Hisamitsu Pharmaceutical was founded in the mid-19th century, holding the mission to make patch care available for all who seek it-anytime, anywhere. Hisamitsu has released products ranging from the collection of Lifecella to SALONPAS.

Lifecella include Lifecella Gel mask series and Lifecella Paper mask series. All Lifecella products are made in Japan and directly imported, and are the no. 1 bestseller compared with similar products in Japan. Lifecella mask is made with the latest ODT technology, enabling it to effectively moisten and soften rough skins, while enhancing the carrying capacity of every cell, so as to facilitate the essence to permeate into the in-depth layer of the skin. In firm and jelly texture, Hisamitsu Lifecella mask lets you feel free to do what you like while enjoying the mask!

A box includes:
LIFECELLA Essence Sheet Mask Hyaluronic Acid (5 pieces)
LIFECELLA Essence Sheet Mask Ceramide (5 pieces)
LIFECELLA Essence Sheet Mask Trehalose (5 pieces)
LIFECELLA Milky Lotion Sheet Mask CoQ10 Squalane (1 piece)
LIFECELLA Milky Lotion Sheet Mask CoQ10 Squalane for Eye Contour (1 pair)

Price: US$ 25.50 (~ £ 16.50) from Sasa

The three boxes are stuck together but they can be bought individually.

LIFECELLA Essence Sheet Mask Trehalose

  • Hyaluronan: Strong moisturizing, only 1 gram can help outlayer and inner of skin to trap 6 Liters water, which allows skin becomes moisturized and full of vality.
  • Trehalose: Taken from bonectial, strong moisturizing. It can protect the sebum and cell to maintain skin healthy.

  • The mask is drenched and saturated in essence, so much that you will find excess left at the bottom of the packet ...which I ended up using on my feet. You can leave it on for about half an hour just make sure the mask isn't drying up on your face because that means the mask will try and transfer moisture back into itself so the results won't be as effective.

The quality of the mask is decent for a drugstore mask. The material is pretty strong and there was no tearing as I put on the mask.

The fitting of the mask is average, it's a bit too wide that it overlaps but I guess it's better than it being too small. I do like that it covers my eyes too. The scent I didn't like as much because it reminds me of a medicine, but it's not too strong so I was able to handle it and I managed to get used to it after a while.

This mask has moisturising qualities, results are not greatly shown on my skin because my skin only gets dry in the winter period, it's more oily at the moment so I'll keep these for the winter. Overall I do like these masks, I love the cooling effect the most, it's so relaxing.^^

    Glossybox July 2012

I finally got my box this month. After receiving a dispatch notice I waited and anticipated only to find that it hasn't arrived the following day. I assume it must have been due to the Olympics that it arrived a day later than it would normally. Oh well, at least I got it now.

HD Brows | Eye & Brow Palette
I like this best out of the box, I got it in Vamp. I'm sure they had this in a previous Glossybox, I think it was some time last year but I hadn't subscribed then so it was nice that they brought it back. Not to worry because they made sure that you wouldn't get the same product twice if you had already received it the last time.

Jelly Pong Pong Cosmetics | Lip Frosting
I was surprised that this is a full sized product, it's so small! It costs £10 for this product. -jaw drops-

    Monu | Golden Glow
It's an alarming yellow colour, similar to the Clinique moisturiser so I thought it was a moisturiser of some sort. Silly me didn't bother reading the description, all I picked up was "bronzer" so I thought: whatever, I'll test it on my hand. It looked clear so I left it there. Three hours later a section of my hand was brown and I was mortified as it didn't come off. Then I realised it was a tanning treatment. I'm not a fan of tanning, and a definite no no for tanning products. The smell is very unpleasant to me but if you often use self tanners then you might be familiar with the smell already and it might not bother you as much.

CLYNOL Salon Exclusive | Enrich Colour Shampoo
I wasn't bothered when I saw this because I see most shampoos to be the same. I do have colour treated hair so to make up for the last product that I didn't like they managed to pick one that is suitable for me. It's in a small bottle too so it'll be convenient to take with me when travelling.

Elizabeth Arden | Visible Difference Skin Balancing Line
This is a bonus product that includes 3 satchets: cleanser, skin serum and moisturiser. I don't use small samples in little satchets hence why I give most of them away. I don't think you can't judge a product after using it twice. But since this is an extra, I can't complain.

Elizabeth Arden | Visible Difference Skin Balancing Lotion SPF 15
It comes in a tiny plastic bottle holding 5ml of the product. The pump looks really cute on such a small bottle. The description reads: "Smooth onto cleansed face and throat." Well, how unique? The lotion is milky and smells a bit like cucumber.

I feel kind of neutral towards the July box; some (or should I say one) product I like and some, not so much. I felt a bit "meh" about most of them especially the tanning product but HD Brows palette's presence somehow pulled me out of that feeling. I do think everything else will go to waste. I secretly wanted the Monu eye gel instead of the self tanner and looking at the rest of the products of July I think there are more items I would use but I didn't get which is a little disappointing. I hope next month I will have a better box suited for me. :)

    My Last Sasa.com Haul

My Sasa order has arrived! I've not done a haul in a while so I thought I would show you what I've bought recently from sasa.com.

    JEALOUSNESS (x 2)
    Assorted False Eyelashes - JS-688
    Koji
DOLLY WINK Liquid Eyeliner (Deep Black)
    Koji
DOLLY WINK False Lower Lashes (No. 14 Natural Cute)
    Koji
DOLLY WINK False Lower Lashes (No. 13 Baby Girl)
    Koji
DOLLY WINK Eyelash (No. 2 Sweet Girly)
    Koji
    DOLLY WINK Eyelash Fix
    SK-II
    CLASSIC CARE Facial Treatment Essence
    SK-II
ANTI-AGE Signs Eye Mask (14 piece)
    SK-II
CLASSIC CARE Facial Treatment Mask (10 piece)
Most are Dolly Wink products because I worship the brand and even just by looking at the packaging makes me happy! The power of Tsubasa Masuwaka lol. XD My order came to $251USD (~ £160), but I was also charged customs:

    Import VAT £35.05
    Clearance Fee £13.50
    Total £48.55

Including customs charge I payed nearly £210. Bleh. But overall I'm still pleased with my order.

This isn't the first time I have been charged customs duty so it's not new to me but it has been the most I have had to pay so far. I have ordered from Sasa 5 times previously (this is my 6th order) and never got charged customs. This time I got stung quite hard so I guess it makes up for the times I got away with it!

When and Why Do you Have to Pay Customs Charge?
Any item you import outside of the EU and is over £16 will risk of being charged customs duty. It looks like more or less every order made in the past few months from Sasa where the buyer lives in the UK is caught up in custom charges. It really depends on where you live, sometimes you get lucky like the 5 times for me but I think they have just become more strict especially now that the UK economy is still struggling.

Customs charge has nothing to do with the company but the laws of your own country. So if you don't want to be charged customs you must understand the laws and regulations, which differs from country-to-country. I know must people like to stock up. I'm one of them. Who can limit themselves to buying less than £18 for one order that comes from the other side of the world? You might as well buy more while you're at it. Sasa doesn't always offer free shipping or the free shipping is only available when you buy over $75USD which then means you risk of custom charges. You can't win around it and Sasa won't help you either.

    Part of Sasa's policy states:
    Customs & Tax
When ordering from sasa.com you are considered the importer of record and must comply with all the laws and requirements of the country in which you are receiving the items. Your orders may be subject to import duties and/or taxes and any additional charges for custom clearance must be borne by you. Sasa.com has no control over these charges and does not assume responsibility for the ordered goods meeting local customs laws and/or duties and taxes.
Custom policies vary widely from country to country, and you should contact your local customs office for further information.
When you pressing “continue” to place your order, this assumes you have accepted the responsibility for the import duties and/or tax, additional charge and Import Trade Declaration for custom clearance. If you have not been able to complete this statement of the aforementioned and the package is subsequently returned to sasa.com, you will be responsible for the return shipping charges and a re-stocking fee of 15% of the total product purchase price. The balance will then be refunded back to you.
NOTE: As import duties and/or taxes and any additional charges for custom clearance must comply with the laws and requirements of the country, we MUST provide the product value for the customs clearance. In addition, some of the countries requested to attach the product details with value outside the parcel, thus, we will NOT amend the product value in any circumstances

It's understandable for them to state this in their policy as most companies do. You probably would have been quoted more if you bought from elsewhere because Sasa has the best prices for asian products.

    Sasa.com - Website Review
I'm expecting this to be my last Sasa order (*coughs* if I can control myself). I should support the UK and EU businesses so I'm going to be rounding up Sasa the whole experience and the pros and cons of shopping online at Sasa.

    The Bad..
The packaging. The thing that annoys me most about Sasa is that they have limited themselves to the same one size outer packaging box. It doesn't matter if you order just one set lashes (which I did once do; it was 2 pairs actually) they will still post it in the same, large, exaggerated box.. And then the rest of the parcel will be filled with packing peanuts which is a nuisance to pick up once they scatter around everywhere, and also not very environmental friendly since they don't use the biodegradable soluble types.

Out of stock products. Now I've complained for so long about this matter I feel that it's slightly improved because before it used to take weeks and weeks and weeks for a popular item to get back in stock they have improved in a way but not enough to make me feel impressed by.

Their reviews. It can be unreliable. Sasa reviews are all monitored before they are published. There is one thing I found out about Sasa which is quite sneaky. They don't allow reviews with less than 3 stars. I read this on a blog and later tried it out myself, I left a review with 1 star and it was declined however I did this a long time ago so I hope they have changed that. You wouldn't find a bad review in the past. You can now see one/two star products but they aren't actually reviewed I believe it's just computerised randomly.

    The Good..
Competitive prices. Of course not the same as HK but still cheapest online. If you live in east asian you might get it for cheaper but it doesn't apply to most of us, unless you're on holiday there. The prices do however inflate just slightly when it's in demand.

Wide range of asian products available. Sasa.com is a good place to shop for their selection of products. There are a lot of Japanese products, Taiwanese products, and some Korean too. My favourite Dolly Wink brand, K-Palette, SK-II, Kose are all bought from there.

Reputable company. The company is legit, no fake products; you can buy with confidence.

Quick and efficient order processing. It usually takes 2-5 days for them to process your order and dispatch. I think that is pretty good. It takes one week for it to arrive here (longer this time because of customs - but only by a day because they sent me a letter instead of my package). Still very decent.

To conclude, I will always love Sasa but the online shopping journey ends here. Although it's unlikely I hope that one day Sasa will come to Europe. After all, western countries are catching on with bb creams at the moment so I don't see why not. It may take a long time but I do wish they would introduce more asian products to the western market.

    Glossybox June 2012

You know it's summer when you don't know what day of the week it is. That's why I got a pleasant surprise this morning because my Glossybox has arrived! This month's Glossybox is all about the sexy summer style.

VICHY | Dermablend Ultra-Corrective Foundation Cream Stick – Just as I have been looking for a new concealer! In the summer I cannot wear full face makeup, because my skin won't let me, but covering blemishes is a must for me. There are 6 shades available so you can easily mix them to achieve the perfect shade for your skin tone.

AGENT PROVOCATEUR | Eau Provocateur – I was dreading to find fragrance in my Glossybox because I'm very picky with my perfume. I usually can't stick with the same perfume for long and I change my mind about it very easily too. However, I must say I'm glad this time it gives you a selection of all three fragrances to try. It has very feminine scents, kind of playful and yummy, and also perfect size for your handbag.

GLOSSYBOX | Serie Exclusiv Pro Beauty Brush – I can't say that it is super soft and the best quality brush, it is a little scratchy on the face but nevertheless a decent brush.

YVES ROCHER FRANCE | Mini Mascara Ultra-volume Sexy Pulp – Very rarely do I wear mascara nowadays I've practically given up on them because nothing lengthens my short and stubborn looking lashes. False lashes are my new best friend but guess I can use this to blend my real lashes with the false lashes. They can be partners in crime. ;)

BM BEAUTY | Summer Warmth Bronzer – I was a little worried this might be too dark for my skin but once you blend it, it's lovely and gives a natural glow.

Overall, I am really liking this month's Glossybox. I can proudly say that nothing will be left abandoned or unloved because all the items were to my taste; that's always a good thing. So, now I am excited to see what you all got for this month too!

What do you think of the June box?

John Frieda Precision Foam Colour 7PBN (Review)

The first time I heard about foam hair dyes was the launch from the Japanese brand Palty, however I haven't used a foam hair dye until now. After big brands like L'Oreal, Nice 'n Easy and John Freida all came up with their own foam dyes I wanted to test it out. I was a little skeptical about them as I have read a lot of bad reviews for this fairly new concept. The Precision Foam Colour too receives quite mixed reviews.

I got this in Boots for £6.65 - which is decent - but according to my receipt the normal price is £9.99 I would say is pretty expensive for a drugstore brand. I got 2 boxes because I usually need 2 for my long thick hair.

    Please take note:
    • This product is not intended for use on persons under the age of 16.
    • Temporary black henna tattoos may increase your risk of allergy.

    Important tips before you start!
    • If this is the first time colouring your hair I strongly recommend a skin allergy test. This has to be done 48 hours before you colour your hair.
    • Wear old clothing; something you don't mind getting dirty cause you'll probably not be able to wear it outdoors again.
    • VASELINE - use it to prevent staining. Apply it all over your face, your neck, a little bit on your ears before you start your hair colouring process.

The colour results are shown below. I have black hair but brown box dyes lift minimal colour so I mostly opt for blonde dyes. I was tricked into thinking "ash" tones prevents orange tints but this is not exactly true. I have had brassy hair colour results even with an ash toned colour but it really depends on your current hair colour and thickness of your hair and how long you keep the dye in for.

          Current      | Colour Results
    colors

    A box contains:
    1  Developer
    2  Colourant
    3  Conditioner
    4  Foamer
    5  Professional Gloves

First pour the contents of the small bottle (the colourant) into the developer. Replace the cap.

Do not shake! Old dyes will tell you to shake vigorously, you do not need to do this with foam dyes. Gently tilt upside down about 5 times. This is the main difference in the how-to steps.

Replace the cap with the foamer and to dispense foam hold bottle upright and squeeze the centre of the bottle. You do get really big flufffy white foams when you squeeze the bottle.

In the directions it tells you to squeeze the foam into your hand, and never directly to your hair. I got lazy so I chose the incorrect method and directly on to my hair (yep naughty girl). And this resulted on me getting bits of foam on to the floor! LOL oh well.

    Short summary steps to follow
    Quick Steps

    More tips!
    • Use a plastic bag/cling film to cover your hair after you have finished with the foam dye to trap in the heat.
    • If you have long and thick hair, like myself, start applying it from the ends because if you apply it to the roots first you will end up with lighter roots and dark ends! (like a reversed ombre look; very bizarre and unflattering). Even if I do this my roots sometimes end up slightly lighter so during the last 10 minutes I use a hair dryer and focus on the ends of my hair to speed up the reaction.

    Results:

    Pros
    • Very easy to use
    • Foam does not drip - I did drop it on to the floor by applying it directly to my hair, you are meant to apply it to your hands first.
    • Did not damage my hair the slightest!
    • Leaves my hair very shiny
    • Smells quite pleasant compared to most hair dyes and it's not too overpowering (but then my sister complained about the smell being strong.. she doesn't dye her hair though. I've definitely smelled stronger hair dye.)
    • One box covers my full head! I have always used 2 boxes of hair dye, this is the very first time. So I still have a spare at the moment.

    Cons
    • This is honestly very hard to think. I suppose I didn't achieve the exact colour I had wanted but then I was still happy with it. I did want something lighter but seriously lifting black hair really is not easy.
    • Price is slightly higher than average.

These are all the different shades available. The Salon Blends are the newer shades. Each new shade contains a blend of 3 hues. Pearl and beige hues helps to reduce brassiness results - but I can't say it is guaranteed.

Have you tried using a foam hair dye yet?

Skinfood Black Sugar Wash Off Mask (Review)

    Description:
Skinfood Black Sugar Mask Wash Off contains black sugar ingredient, which contains rich minerals, vitamins and glycolic acid, for removing aged cuticles. This face scrub effectively exfoliates dead skin that prevents makeup application, while revitalizing skin. It ensures better absorption of the following skin care products. Skin is revitalized and hydrated.

    Country of Origin:
    South Korea

    Size:
    100g

    Price:
$10.99USD(~£7) from Cosmetic-Love. I'll put a link here to direct you to the Skinfood mask. I hauled this here if you are interested in seeing what products I had also bought from there and if you would like me to review any of them first you can leave a comment :) although I probably will get round to all of them eventually.

    Directions:
    1. After washing, apply desired amount on to face, avoiding eye and mouth areas.
    2. Mix with water or toner to reduce skin irritation, and massage.
    3. Wait 10 to 15 minutes, and then wash off with warm water.

    Packaging:
The Black Sugar Mask is in fact a face scrub. It comes in a little tub with a small screw cap lid.
Ingredients: Sucrose, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Glycerin, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Lanolin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetyl Ethylexanoate, Stearalkonium Hectorite, Butyroseperum Parkii (Shea Butter), Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Sorbitan Laurate, Butylparaben, BHT, Caramel, Parfum

The brown product contains sugar granules. It looks a bit like a cake mixture because it has slight oil base. It works really well exfoliating the skin it's not that harsh either to the extent it is abrasive.

    Scent:
It's hard to describe the smell, because it smells a bit of everything. The smell is pretty strong. It's very strange because the first sniff I smelt Coca-Cola... The more I smell it, it became more of a lemon/citrus-like smell. I also thought it smelled like a washing powder. Now... it's a mystery how I can smell all these. I asked my mum for her account and she said the exact same thing so I can assure you I don't have phantosmia.

I've actually tried to make my own DIY sugar mask but those have a shorter life span and it does make a bit of a mess. There's something about making your own masks that makes me think it's less hygienic. To me this is much better that the homemade stuff.

I started using this when I was ill with the cold about a month ago now and I had extremely dry skin on my nose and my upper lip area. After using it the flakiness disappeared completely. I had baby's butt soft skin. It really helps to clear away dead skin cells. This is practically an amazing product especially the winter or cold months. I sometimes experience dry patches on my face I don't ever feel it anymore because I've been using this (2-3 times a week) and my intensive leave in mask every night.
I've been using it for 4-5 weeks and there is still a lot of product left. I think one tub will last me a long time. This product is pretty inexpensive for how well it works and just about the average price of any mask or face scrub.
When you use water to wash the residue the warm water actually melts the sugar.

    Pros:
    - Acts as a good exfoliater - great at removing dead skin cells
    - Leaves your skin soft
    - One tub will last you a very long time
    - Great for the winter months

    Cons:
    - I felt a slight tingle on my face after using it, it's very mild however
    - It contains parfum. This must mean it was used to make the product smell nice but I don't think it's necessary, infact it smells quite odd anyway with the waft of smells

Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher #2 (Review)

    Description:
Various beautiful and bright colors lasts for long time on your cheeks with its sebum control powder and coating pigment.

    Net Wt:
    8.5g

    Thoughts:
Cuteness is written all over the Etude House blush. It is packaged very well like most of their products. The pot is pink with a slightly rounded white-transparent lid. It only just clicked where the name "Cookie" came from in the name: it's shaped like a cookie... well sort of.

Swatched - #2 Strawberry Choux it looks really bright here I didn't think the colour will show up that well on my camera. I swiped it 2-3 times here. It's really pigmented a colour will show on the first swipe.

    What I like:
    - Adorable packaging and comes with a cute little puff.
    - Long lasting blush. I had it on for a full day and the colour is still as intense as I just applied it.
    - Affordable price, I got this from Cosmetic-Love.com for $7.89USD(~£5). Free shipping too.
    - Matte blush. I always prefer matte finish I know some people prefer a little shimmer I don't usually mind it but I prefer matte blush over shimmery blushes.
    - The blush is super pigmented

    What I dislike:
    - The puff needs to be changed to keep up with hygeine. (Luckily I found some Tony Moly ones that are identical)
    - Too many colours to choose from! I had difficulty picking one.
    - The puff isn't great at picking up even amount of blush. I prefer using a brush.
    - Slightly awkward shape - can't stack things on top.
